When a Sore in the Mouth Needs an Oral Examination

A sore in the mouth can seem minor at first, especially if it feels similar to a canker sore or irritation from biting your cheek. They can appear on the gums, tongue, cheeks, lips, roof of the mouth, and floor of the mouth. In most instances, they will heal without treatment within a week or two. But when a sore persists, changes in appearance, or becomes more painful, Dr. Cameron Y. S. Lee recommends an oral examination. At Hawaii Oral Surgery, Dr. Lee will address your concern and perform an oral examination.

Common Warning Signs and Symptoms

  • A sore that lasts more than 10 to 14 days
  • Pain that increases instead of improving
  • Red, white, or mixed-color patches
  • Swelling, bleeding, or drainage of fluid
  • Difficulty chewing, swallowing, or speaking
  • A lump, thickened area, or change in tissue texture

The Importance of Early Oral Examination

Early oral examination will provide timely treatment, if needed. Dr. Lee will perform an oral examination to diagnose the problem and provide options of treatment, non-surgical or surgical.

Call Dr. Lee to schedule your oral examination at (808)-484-2288. Dr. Lee has two offices, Aiea, and Honolulu.
